Wizkid Made in Lagos album has been among one of the greatest anticipated albums for a while now. It’s been over three years since any star boy album was released. This time the Wizkid takes us back to his afrobeat background as against his “Sounds from the other side” which was presented more on an international stage. Sounds from the other side contained various genres but on this album, Wizkid focused more on his native afrobeat pattern.
The album had features from UK artist Skepta, Damian (Jr. Gong) Marley, H.E.R, and Nigeria’s very own Burna Boy. Other artists on the Wizkid Made in Lagos album include Ella Mai and Terri.
The album is made up of 14 tracks with Reckless starting the tone for the album and Grace ending it. Other songs on the album include Ginger, Longtime, Mighty wine, Blessed, Smile, Piece of Me, No stress, True love. We also have True love, Sweet one, Essence, Roma, Gyrate all on the album.
The album was supposed to drop earlier this month but if you could recall, Wizkid made a post on the proposed release date. On the post, Wizkid explained that he was holding the release of his project in solidarity with the End SARS protest. The then protest was aimed at reforming the Nigerian police and putting an end to police brutality in the country. It was a great fight and struggle for the Nigerian youth and innocent lives and properties were lost also.
Wizkid in his tweet had this to say;
It has been beautiful to see Nigerians around the world coming together to protest against police brutality,” Wizkid said in a press release. “Unity is key. The youth of Nigeria need our collective voices to continue to shine a spotlight to what is happening inside the country. I want to play my part in this and in the movement for a better Nigeria, a better place to live for ourselves, our families—our communities. We will get through this together. Together we move. #endSARS.
