These enemies if not contribute a lot to our inability to achieve what we want to achieve. Let’s go through list of your true enemies and try to understand them. Possibly you may be battling with any or all, we shall see ways of handing them.

  1. Zero Reading Habit:

I know you are not new to this cliché ” if you want hide any information from a black man, put it in book.” Africans in general are characterized to have low reading culture. Most times, people barely read and even if they do they do its just for excitement. This is one bad habit am glad I was able to overcome. The advantages of been a reader is quite numerous.

Reading helps boosts your mind and keeps you informed. As I started reading my life has never remained the same. I know sometimes it may be hard, or you may not be motivated. It all depends is not a one day thing. You have to make up your mind to want to read. You can start with a paragraph at a day if you can’t handle a page daily. if you can read one page daily in a month that’s 30 pages. Imagine reading 5 pages daily? We would be talking a whooping 1500 pages a month. You just have to start from somewhere.

  1. No Vision:

So you want to be great in life? How have you been going about it? A vision is not just imagining yourself in a big house you are not doing anything about. Some people will be like I am going to win this competition, but never put in work towards the events. A vision is more of a long time thing and has to be clearly mapped out to be effective. So what exactly does it mean to have a vision or if I may, what is a vision?

Vision is as defined by Google is the ability to think or plan the future with imagination or wisdom. Some of the synonyms associated with vision include creativity, inspiration, foresight, awareness sharpness, cleverness. Having a vision is a conscious activity done with creative thinking and actionable plans.

Most people just go about life having wishes for vision and end up getting in the same spot for years. You have to set plans, most preferably where you want to be in 10 years. Then you break them down into years, months, weeks, days, hours and seconds if possible. With this you can give yourself a better shot.

  1. Lack Of Exercise

Owkay! how many of us are guilty of this one? Lack of exercise this is really one of the strong ones on the list of your true enemies. Most people are always too busy or too lazy to exercise and it’s bad. Do I have to begin to mention the effects of not getting exercise? This is one of the unhealthiest bad habit one can have. Lack of exercise doesn’t just affect your body physically buy also mentally. That is why it’s recommended that you exercise at least three times a week.

Doing regular exercise helps you stay active mentally. Even if it’s just push ups in the morning when you wake up, it’s something. You can go jogging or take a walk; this will go a long way to boost your overall body health.

  1. Fear

Everybody alive is scared of something. Been afraid is a natural feeling for humans in general. According to Wikipedia fear is a feeling induced by perceived danger or threat that occurs in certain types of organism (in our case humans). This often cause change in metabolic and organ functions and ultimately a change in behaviour such as fleeing, hiding or freezing etc. An irrational fear is called phobia.

From the foregoing mention most of us are not just scared but we have even developed phobia for what scares us. It all varies from person to person. For some its submitting that business proposal, another maybe performing on stages with that your great song. Everybody battles with one fear or the other and you alone actually know what that is. This is one of the true killers on your list of your true enemies. The earlier you learn to outgrow these fears the better for you.

So why not submit that proposal today, why not perform that song today, why not publish that best seller book you have been hiding. As Emeli Sande said if no one ever hears it how are we going to learn from your song? Outgrow that fear today.

  1. No Mentor

Much emphasis has always been laid on the need for having a mentor. As it is said there is nothing new under the sun. No matter the path you decide to follow in life, there will always be someone you need to look up to. Mentors are very important as the will always have more experience and understanding than you. Getting a mentor will always give you a better edge than going alone.

It doesn’t just stop at getting a mentor; you need to get a good mentor. A good mentor will always give you the right guide and advice you need for your journey. These days, we have sites online that provide free mentorship service. So if you can’t get any around your local, you can always source for one online.

This is all we can cover for now. Till I come your way next time on the concluding part of a list of your true enemies 2.
