However, after the tweet went viral, a lot of Nigerians reacted to the said tweet, and Amanda Chisom is one of them. Below is her response to the tweet as seen on her Facebook page:

Why can’t she buy her own car? It is entitlement. We tend to assume that because you are married to someone, it means they are the person you love the most. I don’t put anyone above my mother and I do not expect anybody to put me before their mother. I will buy my mother a car before I buy for a husband. Jiri ya maru mu. Feel free to say what you like, I have only one mother, I can have four husbands… As long as my mother is not being manipulative or bad, do not ever in your life tell me where to place her on a scale of preference. My mother first, the rest of the world can share the other space in my life.

Only if she understood that both she and her husband are one and can share his car until he gets hers’. Where was she when his mum suffered to raise him? Let her go jare. I’m sure he’ll get a better wife that would love him sincerely and not for his riches.

Contrary to all the opinions above, another Facebook user named JD Njeb said: If the man said he wants to impregnate his wife, would you say that he feels entitled to her womb? This is marriage; it is a special kind of relationship. I cannot be carrying your child while trekking, it’s the plain fact.
