The Nigerian IGP – Abba Kyari responds to the bribery allegation made against him by Hushpuppi. The IGP said that his office got a call from Hushpuppi about two years ago to arrest someone who was threatening his family. Also to aid the arrest, Hushpuppi sent them a picture and the phone number of the person he want arrested. The police swung into action immediately, arrested the suspect and commenced investigations.
Upon conducting an investigation, they discovered that there wasn’t any actual threat to anyone’s life. Further investigations revealed that the suspect and the complainant were friends and recently had a business deal that went wrong. The suspect was later released on bail and was never taken to jail.

In a statement released by the Inspector General of Police, he said they never received any money from Hushpuppi. Rather, the only business deal he had with Hushpuppi was when he (Hushpuppi) asked him to connect him with his personal tailor. In his words he said:
Nobody demanded for a kobo from Abbas Hushpuppi. Our focus was to save people’s lives that were purported to have been threatened. Later, he saw some of my Native Clothes and Caps on my social media page and he said he likes them. He was connected to the person selling the clothes and he sent about N300k directly to the person’s account. The Native Clothes and Caps (5 sets) were brought to our office and he sent somebody to collect them.
